Daxton is one month old!

I can't believe Daxton's one month birth day has come and gone! Our sweet little man is growing up so very quickly. We love to watch him as he discovers the world around him.. I can only imagine what changes the next year will bring. I hope it doesn't go by as fast as the first month has!!

We had a great day hanging out, taking cute pictures etc and that night Grandma and Grandpa watched him and Neil and I had our first date night out. It really did feel nice to get away for a few hours (should I feel guilty?). Hey I'm not just a milk factory over here!! I had my first drink out and felt like I real person for a few hours (yay adults lol). Neil decided to take the following day off work too which was super awesome since we all got to sleep in, play, take pup for a walk together :) This summer is going to be awesome!!

Baby stats ONE MONTH
Sleep: I am pretty stoked with Daxton's sleep routine at this point. I mean we have come a long way from the first few weeks of fussy nights and very little sleep for momma. Mind you I am sure part of it is me toughening up lol. Lil D hangs out with his Dad till around 10ish.. Then comes and wakes mommy up for a feed and is usually asleep til 2am. He then usually doesn't stir until 5or6am. Then again is down until 7/8am and often we dont officially get out of bed until 10(yes I milk the fact that he is a sleeper inner like his Dad). So I am probably getting with my nap.. 7ish hrs sleep when added up, doesn't sound bad at all!
Feed: Dax has graduated from a strict schedule of 2-3hr feeds (wanted to keep that weight on) to feeding on demand. This is really nice as I use to worry that he wasn't getting enough milk or would have to wake him because he was sleeping over time lol. Don't wake a sleeping baby!! I still find he is pretty much a 2-3 hour guy during the day.. Unless he is having a rather big growing day or fussy day where the boob is the only thing that quiets him lol. And nights are 3-4hours yay!
Daily Routine: We usually get up at 10ish.. Usually listening to music and opening the blinds to let some sun in, sometimes hangs out in his bouncy chair for a bit and I can do a chore or two. At 11ish After a change and a feed (and a few burps) we will head to the nursery to hang out on the play mat and do some tummy time. Dax is so much more alert that he can now enjoy the mat for 30m to an hour. Yay! Often with his soother in mouth he will fall asleep here for an hour. Around 1 we will head downstairs for lunch (for both of us).  Lately Dax has enjoyed looking outside at the backyard. Usually he wants to stay up until Dad gets home but he will eventually give in to mr sandman and this is his biggest nap of the day (sometimes up to 3hours). Sometimes this will last until 6pm and by then Neil and I have had dinner and watched some tv and may have gone for a walk with sleeping baby in stroller. I get a feed in before my nap and Dad watches him until 10pm. He says Dax is usually pretty awake still and he use to be fussy at this time but now that only seems to happen if he's super gassy. Now that we have him on the bottle Neil will feed him which lets me nap longer (wow he takes that milk down quick!). Ill feed him again and have him changed into his warm fleecies then he's usually down for the night (well in bed but not sleeping lol).
Weight: 9lbs 6.5oz
Length: 22.5in
Diaper size: Newborn.. I keep saying we are going to switch to the next size up but we haven't yet. Maybe one more box of newborn?
Clothing size: He still fits into some newborn clothes and others are 1month, and others 0-3 and 3 months. I really find it depends on the brand. We are big on the zipper sleepers!! I ❤ his shipmate hoodie.
Hair Color: Brown but it seems like new wisps are coming in dark blond (sun kissed!)
Eye Color: dark gray.. I am thinking he's going to have hazel eyes
Baby favs: soother, play mat, bouncer with vibrating baby massage on but not all the time, music, stroller rides, bath time
Baby not so favs: ergo carrier (going to work on this), soother falling out, carseat straps (he doesn't mind sitting in carseat but sometimes can't stand being strapped in.. I wonder if its pinching him), gas (his poor tummy gets hard as a rock sometimes and he is very uncomfortable.. Poor guy)
Challenges: First week for me with no sleep and terribly sore nipples! From there Dax murdered one nipple then didn't like to feed on it so past 2 weeks he has barely fed from that boob which is fine give it a breather! Instead I have pumped it and frozen some and Dad feeds him some while I nap. As much as pumping has been a god send to relieve engorgement it is so annoying to have to pump regularly with all the cleaning/sterilizing. I will be happy when nipple is fully healed and I choose to pump a few times a day or whatever. I am still paranoid that I will be out with Dax and he will cry the whole time.. I am getting better at this and realize babies cry!
Funniest moment: I get a kick out of his toots when we are feeding. Lol I know it's immature but Neil and I will say he sharted his pants. Also changing his diaper and him grabbing the diaper (by accident I'm sure) and throwing it.
Milestones: He has been trying to hold his head up since like day 3. He is able to hold it up for longer periods of time now and either on play mat or shoulder he is able to turn his head more easily to other direction. He is a huge kicker!! So I can definitely see him jumping/standing/crawling early!  He is becoming so alert and likes to look outside, look at toys or check the house when hes on your shoulder. He likes to make sounds and I swear he is trying to talk to us.. He even makes cute sounds in his sleep (what do babies dream about?). This one sound he makes sounds like a little chuckle lol so cute!!! He has been smiling since week one but I am sure from gas more than anything as its usually after a feed or when he's sleeping. BUT on his one month he was a big smiler for the camera and day after he did it with dad so yay to more smiling!!
This months firsts:
