Daxton is 24 days old!

This little guy is growing up so fast! He is so much more bright eyed and aware. And luckily he seems to have a bit better sleeping pattern. Yay! Momma needs her beauty sleep lol. He seems to like to stay up late (like his dad) and wakes up around midnight to feed, then 3ish, then 7ish. Neil will take him when he gets home from work for a few hours then again from 10-12 so I can get some naps in. His fussy time has been during the day lately but some days it's very little. Other days he is like a lil monster and I feel so bad cos I don't know what he needs :( it usually lasts about 4ish hours. He seems to be best when you are rocking him or feeding him. Sometimes bouncy chair works.. Sometimes car rides. Sometimes nothing! Lol I try to be immune to the cries being assured he is fine but it still breaks my heart :( I tried the k'tan carrier when he was fussy and he slept in it over 30mins which was great as it gave me time (hands free) to eat and watch bachelorette :) haha. I am hoping I can use the carrier a lot in the future!!

My right boob is still giving me trouble.. Or Dax trouble. He doesn't like to nurse on it so I have been trying to at least pump to keep milk up. It is tough work though! Constantly cleaning parts! We finally tried a bottle and he took it no problem! And went back to the boob after so I think we are in the clear :)

We got our newborn picture proofs back. Ahh I love them!! So worth the drive :) On Sunday Ash & Shannon came over and cooked us dinner and let me nap. It was very much appreciated! It has been so nice how much support from friends and family. I can't imagine doing this without everyone :) Only 4.5 weeks left of school for Neil and I so can't wait for summer break to start! It hasn't been super nice weather wise so I am hoping it will stay nice out soon. I guess it is a good excuse to be lazy though. I find I'm slacking on the pictures so I better step it up!! His one month bday is coming up :)

Daxton is 19 days old!

It feels like time is going by so fast! It helps that Dax is sleeping better at night (for my sanity). We had a lot of visitors this weekend. Had a brunch and dinner at my parents on Sunday and my dad and sister came to visit on Monday. It was so cute to see how excited Mel was to be an Aunt! Dax was such a good little man through all of the visiting.
I have definitely found the last few days he is more alert during the day. We spend more time downstairs in the natural light as well. He still likes his play mat and I set up the interactive part which he loves watching the bright lights and sounds.
He seems to be sleeping better at night too! Yay! Sleeping from 1230-430 is so nice... I really hope he stays on that schedule. He is a bit more fussy after dinner but I would way rather that than the middle of the night. Only issue is he hasn't wanted to feed on one side so I am trying to pump a bit so I don't lose milk on that side.
Yesterday I took him to work to meet my coworkers (they were dying to see him). The more I get out the better it feels. I just don't want it to get in the way of my nap time. But if he keeps sleeping like that at night I will need less naps during the day :) I weighed myself and I'm only 5lbs away from my pre preg weight! Woot!

Sleeping on dad :)

Cuddles at Nana's. wow I look tired!

Daxton 14 days old!

Daxton is already two weeks old! Wow how time flies :) I really can't imagine him not being with us. Although we have had some long, trying nights... He just lights up a room. During the day he is so sweet and we are having fun getting to know each other.

Midwife came by Thursday and Dax is up to 8lbs 6oz. She wants to make sure I still feed him every two hours during the day (I feel like a cow lol). She helped me with engorgement situation. Yay! Fingers crossed we have nipped that one.

Things we couldn't live without these past 2 weeks:
** snugabunny bouncer - great for naps and when he is fussy. Also if I need to run to the washroom quickly etc. He likes the vibrations and songs.
** mamaroo - Neil prefers the mamaroo cos he doesn't have to rock it. So he keeps it with him. Dax likes car ride setting.
** Aden and Adais swaddle blankets - so soft and can be used for everything! Swaddling, covering car seat from sun/wind, clean up baby messes. Love them!
** play mat - we use this for visual stimulation and tummy time. He loves the mirror!! And is just starting to touch the toys.. Could be by accident though lol.
** sleep sheep - super helpful for white noise.. He likes the wave sounds.. Heck I do too! Lol I would like the giraffe as well as he has the heart beat sound and Dax liked that at the photographers.
** brest friend pillow - love this for breast feeding. Especially when I first came home and back was soo bad. It makes feeding so much easier!
** medela breast pump - soo helpful when engorged! I have only pumped a but as I don't want to over do it too soon and have way too much milk. Easy to use and clean.
** lanolin cream - saving my nipples!!
** hydrogel nipple pads - cooling for nipples. So nice but expensive so I use these when I'm going out rather than breast cooling packs.
** cooling packs - great for engorgement and cooling down between feeds. Also cabbage helped a lot.
** bob stroller - although we have only used it a few times so far it is a great stroller! Easy to maneuver and even with my back messed up it is easy to fold up and put in the trunk.
** cute outfits - lol it just makes everything more fun!! You do a lot of laundry so it helps to have a variety. So tough to know what to buy ahead if time though when you don't know how big they will be. I find Carter's newborn onesies just fit and there 3month onesies with pants are great. A lot of 3 month sleepers are huge on him though! I found some 1 month Emma and Jack sleepers that are a great size so I'm glad I got quite a few of those.

This week on my own flew by. We have done lots of playing, sleeping, feeding, and a few outings. Went and voted on Monday (he loves his car rides), took him for a big walk Tuesday (seems to like stroller too), and yesterday went to Target (apparently he likes shopping like his mom lol). More friends and famiky have visited and Dax is perfectly content to hang out in their arms (as long as it isnt feeding time).

Here are some sweet pics of what we have been upto...
Daxton planking during tummy time! I can't believe how much head control he has already! I attribute it to my prenatal workouts lol I swear he was born with muscles!
He is still loving his play mat.

Road trip to vote! Yes babies vote too!!

First big walk with Miller down to the park. Dax just slept the whole time but I am not complaining!

Miller was a very happy pup :)

First official bath at home. He was such a lil trooper :) I hope he continues to love his baths!

Nana's Mother's Day present that Dax and I made :)

My sister finished painting tree in nursery. I love how it turned out! I will have to tidy up nursery and take a picture of the finished product.

Daxton 10 days old

I can't believe we are in double digits! It seems like just yesterday we brought him home :) He is growing up right before our eyes.
He loves his snugabunny rocker. Good for nap time.
Midwife came on Saturday and Dax is upto 8lb 2.5oz! Woot! He is very healthy and that means my breast milk is great! I just wish I would stop getting engorged. Omg uncomfortable!
Sunday was Mother's Day and we went on our first family road trip for newborn pics. Although it was quite the day it was soo worth it and can't wait to see the pictures!! I hope she caught one of his sleepy smiles.. Melts my heart! I can't wait for him to smile all the time and giggle.
Monday was my first day at home by myself with my little man. He was such a good boy all day and even slept for 5hours straight that night!!! We are working on tummy time (it looks like he's planking)... He is so strong!

Daxton 4 days old

Today we got him on his play mat and he loved the mirror! Cutest thing ever is checking out your baby checking themselves out :)
He also hung out with his brother Miller. He likes when dad burps him and is soo alert.. He can actually lift his head a bit!
We found out yesterday that he loves music. We played some tunes today on his mat and he was wide eyed and loving life :)
I am also happy to report he is upto 7lb 14oz (went down from 8.2 to 7.8 at hospital) so breast milk is doing his body good! ("I was raised on the dairy b*tch)
Fav pics of the day...
