Daxton is 3months old!

I can't believe Daxton is three months old already! Wow, we have come a long way. It is almost a year ago that I got preg (give or take a week).. So it is crazy to think how much has changed in the last year. I cant imagine him not being part of our family. Being a mom has truly changed my life in such a great way. He has humbled me and taught me patience. He has also taught me to really live in the moment and love like i never have before. I couldn't ask for a more amazing son.

Baby stats
Sleep: Dax has been pretty consistently sleeping 8 hours straight now which is so amazing! We put him in his bassinet around 930 after change, bath, pjs, and a feed and he doesn't wake up until 6ish. Yay! Then ill feed him and he sleeps again til 8-830. And then often he will feed again and then we hang out in bed and he will nap til 1130-12. It works out nicely right now since Neil is off and likes to sleep in late. People tell me it won't last (him sleeping that long) but I will take it!
Feed: I still feed on demand and have stopped logging in my phone. I am getting better at remembering what side was last. He still feeds for 7-10mins only, one side per feed. I know I am so lucky!!
Daily Routine: we don't have much of a routine these days due to summer holidays but Dax seems to be ok with it. When we are at home he likes to have a nap in the morning. I definitely find naps are becoming shorter and he gets bored more easily. Luckily he is more into his toys now. So the day consists of tunmy time, play mat, mamaroo, jumperoo (just the last week) with feeds, naps and freshies in between. Routine at night works well though.. Feed, change, bath, pjs, feed, bed :) now if only I went to bed when he did lol.. But it is nice to get a few hours of me time.
Weight: 13lb 7.5oz
Length: 26in
Diaper size: size 1
Clothing size: 3 months but a lot of his onesies are getting too tight :( even his sleepers as he is long and his feet fill the footies. I can't believe he will be wearing 6 months soon! He is growing too fast :( it is fun buying him new outfits but it still amazes me how fast he is growing!
Hair Color: dark blonde.. Still doesn't have much. He has a bit of cradle cap (I try not to pick it!!) which we are using olive oil and it seems to be helping
Eye Color: still gray but I see flecks of hazel around pupil
Baby favs:
- Oscar the Octopus on his play mat.. I think they are BFFs he loves smiling and talking to him
- He is starting to like his toys now, he watches them intently and reaches for them (rattle, tigger finger puppet, farm animals). He can grab his rattle on his own and shake it.
- high 5s!! That is what made him first giggle
- singing to him and making him dance lol
Baby not so favs:
- poopy diapers
- laying down too long (unless he's sleeping he gets bored after awhile on his back)
- being hangry lol
Challenges: He is getting bored more easily now so it is finding ways to keep him entertained.. Especially on trips away from home. Usually if you can pick him up so he can check things out he is more content.
Funniest moment: I went out for dinner with a gf and Neil texted me that Dax had just said his first word. I was like omg no way!! Neil said Dax said "hi" to Oscar the octopus on his play mat! Lol obviously it was by accident but still so cute! It makes me not want to miss anything!!
Dax had a massive spit up on this chicks silk dress. Funny cos I don't really like her. Lol
Milestones: He is sleeping through the night now (8 hrs straight!). It is so nice!! Now we can put him to bed, put on the baby monitor and go watch tv etc and watch him.
He is getting really good at holding his head up now. He can hold it for over a minute when doing tummy time. When you hold him he can pretty consistently hold it up. He loves looking around! It makes the ergo way better too as he can check out things while I walk around. He is just starting to use a jumperoo and although he hasn't figured out the jumping part yet he likes the sights and sounds. He is definitely so much more alert and aware of surroundings, it is pretty cute!
He is getting a lot better at using his hands.. First he just stared at them, then they started going in his mouth and now he is purposely grabbing things.
He is getting more of a coo vocabulary and can be quite vocal. When you talk to him he likes to talk back.
Firsts: - first time using hands (stares at them, rattle in hand and he shakes it, put hands in mouth alot!!)
- first giggle (July 29)!!! Best sound ever :) I almost cried I was so happy! I was at hotel with my mom when he first did it. Too bad Neil missed it :( but I know there will be many more!
Events in the past month:
I had another shower thrown by my aunt in Vancouver so we took Dax over for the day. It was a lot of fun and Dax was pretty good with the long car rides. I am getting more comfortable being out of the house and Bfeeding which is good. Dax got to meet lots of family and got so spoiled (again!!).
- we have been to the beach lots. We got a uv tent which is great so he can hang out in the shade wherever we are. Most of the time he just sleeps at the beach. It is probably the sound of the waves (like his sleep sheep).
- took him to Costco in the ergo. He did really well!
- for our anniversary we stayed at tighnamara resort and went out for dinner. Baby D joined us (of course) and was super good :)
- we went to Victoria to my friends baby shower. He was such a sweet boy... Other than the spit up issue lol.
- stayed overnight in Van to visit memere and do some shopping. Dax was a trooper spending so much time in his carseat. He shared my hotel bed with me and kicked me all night lol
- dad was away for a week fishing but baby D was really good for me and the week went by fast :) I am so lucky to have great family and friends to keep me busy.

Looking forward to:
More giggles!!! Dax being able to use his jolly jumper. Hopefully in the next month he will be able to :) The next thing I look forward to is him sitting by himself. But I don't want the next month to go by fast as Neil goes back to work in Sept :(

Tuesday 9 July 2013

Daxton is 2 months old!

We made it! Neil is off for the summer :) The first 9 days he was off we went to Hornby which was so much fun! My parents came the first weekend and then we had two couples come visit a few nights throughout the week. Dax loved it there! The weather was hot!! The beaches were beautiful :) This summer is going to be awesome.

Daxton is growing up so fast! His personality is shining through and we are loving getting to know him. I try to savor every moment. He is the perfect addition to our family ❤

Baby stats
Sleep: He is sleeping like a rock star these days! A night before his 2 month bday he slept 8hrs straight! 930-530! It hasn't happened since but still so amazing lol. He usually sleeps 5-6hr stretch though. At Hornby we started putting him to bed early.. Which is still late but is now 930-10. He wakes up once for a feed and then usually sleeps until 730ish. Often we will sleep another few hours after another feed if we are feeling lazy :) lol Since we have been home he has been sleeping in bassinet instead of co-sleeper and it is going really well! I put on sleep sheep wave sounds and a light muslin blanket tucked into sides of mattress.
Feed: Dax usually feeds every 2-3hrs throughout the day but its still on demand not scheduled. I stopped pumping when we went away and just fed at night rotating breasts (they are adjusting so not as painful with engorgement). So now is like to just pump when I need to or once in the morning kind of thing. His hungry cry is very distinct so he def lets you know if it's been too long lol.
Daily Routine: Routine before Neil was off work was dance party around 10ish, play mat time at 12ish where he will evetually fall asleep for a nap. I get chores done and then downstairs for the rest of the day where he hangs out in mamaroo and we look outside and play and nap until Neil gets home. Neil use to take him for 3-4hrs so i could nap then we would put him to bed. Now that he sleeps better I skip my nap and put him to bed earlier and I usually join him unless we have ppl over. Being at Hornby through off our schedule a bit but he seems pretty content going with the flow.
Weight: 12lbs 3.5oz (July 9th)
Length: 24in
Diaper size: size 1
Clothing size: 3 months now! He is long and skinny so 3 month sleepers look wide but fit length wise. It is so sad to be packing away his newborn stuff :(
Hair Color: light brown with flecks of golden blonde. Still not a lot of hair but it seems to be growing at the back lol
Eye Color: dark gray
Baby favs: mamaroo, bouncer, soother, high-5s from dad, smiling when he sees me, music, octopus on playmat (he smiles at it), car rides (he did so well on the way to Hornby!! As long as car is moving he is pretty much sleeping) and stroller rides, hanging out outside
Baby not so favs: gas and poopy blowouts lol But honestly the more I get to know him the more I realize how chill of a baby he is :) it's so nice that he is perfectly content to do whatever we are doing. He doesn't mind being held by other ppl. He does get bored sometimes though but as long as he has something to check out he's pretty happy
Challenges: we are still working on him being comfortable in the ergo carrier but he is doing way better! He seems to be able to last an hour. We took him on a hike and out to the campfire one night in it and was really chill. He is also a loud sleeper, my word! Lol when he sleeping deeply he is good but when he stirs he is loud! He grunts, shifts around, sleep cries (on occasion).. And being a light sleeper makes it tough. I have found ear plugs do help.. Most times he will work it out and go back to sleep and this can buy me an extra hour or two of sleep. I use to just pick him up right away thinking he was awake but now I try to wait it out lol.
Funniest moment:
After a bath Neil forgot to put Daxton's diaper on and just put him in his sleeper. He was rocking him and then Dax peed all over Neil's shirt. Lol
Milestones: He is cooing very loudly now! It is so stinkin cute! I make diff sounds at him and he is so interested and tries to talk back (Aowww, Ahh and Gah). Can hold head up even longer now and likes to check things out. Moves head from side to side and rolling a bit.. I know he will fully roll over in no time! I def feel like I have to keep a closer eye on him. He is becoming a lot more interactive with toys.. He goes all wide eyed and watches closely with rattles and vibrating toys (loves vibrating bird on bouncer and animals on playmat). He has held things by accident (o ball, play mat rings, my necklace) but I think he is starting to get it. He is also getting better at self soothing.. Especially at night. He does rely on his soother quite a bit but I am finding if I put him to bed and he's still semi awake or if he wakes up during the night that he can most of the time work it out on his own if you give him a bit of time.
Firsts:
- first time sleeping through the night
- first ferry ride
- first overnight trip
- first trip to the beach (toes in the ocean)
- first time sleeping on his own (first in Hornby, now in Bassinet)
- first time finding hands (staring at and putting in mouth)
Looking forward to: Giggles! He has chuckled in his sleep but I'm so excited to see smiles and giggles together! Also him holding his head up all by himself.. He is definitely getting better at it (he is so strong!)

Road trip!
