Daxton is 13months!!

Baby stats

13 months!! Seriously can't believe it.

Sleep: sleeping 730-8pm until 7-8am and one long nap 12-2/3

Feed: 2-3 nursing (morning, after nap and bedtime) and 3 full meals with snacks

Daily Routine: it has been so nice outside that usually after breakfast we will walk to the park/walk the neighbourhood or go to the beach before nap. He loves it. Even just walking around the yard is exciting for him. I think with the fresh air and exercise he sleeps better.

Weight: 21lb 7oz
Length: 31.5lb
Head: 18in
Diaper size: size 4
Clothing size: 12-18m gap clothes 12m Carter's etc outfits and 12-18m sleepers.
Shoe size: finally got him sized and he's a 4.5 and one foot just shy of 5. So officially in size 5 with those chubby feet ;)

Challenges: he gets into everything. Whatever you are doing he wants to be part of. We really need child locks on all the cupboards but just section him off into his play yard area. We moved the gate to the top of the stairs finally and he shakes it like a mad man. Lol he sees us open it and tries to grab the latch but thank goodness isn't tall enough yet. I still worry he will somehow get it open so watch him very closely.

Nicknames: baby D (trying to stop since he's no longer a baby ;), stinkeroo, beeb, silly man/cute man

Funniest moment: threw my keys in the toilet. Thank goodness by faab still works!!

Milestones:
It is amazing how much they can change in a month. He walks most of the time now. He is slow on uneven surfaces (park, sand, grass) but is getting better each day. He love love LOVES other kids.. Especially older ones. It is too cute. He wants to play with them and will watch them at the park and want to be near them. Haha he even will try to talk to them.
He is also a crazy climber ... Climbs in ottoman and sofa and has learned  how to slide back down (stinkeroo) ...we are hoping he won't figure out how to climb out of his crib any time soon.
He is learning how to play hockey w his little hockey stick and dunk on his basketball hoop.
He seems to understand us more and more. He loves when I sing nursery rhymes.. Especially itsy bitsy spider (probably because I tickle him lol) and wheels on the bus. can't wait until he can talk to us :) he will hand you a book and want you to read it (favs right now are oink moo meow, sniff elephant book and Dr Seuss) or a toy if he wants you to play. He also uses cellphones as phones and talks (ring a ling thanks for calling).

Foods:
Routine of food is cereal and yogurt, eggs and toast or pancakes/waffles for breakfast w fruit
Lunch is usually toast yogurt and fruit or cheese quesadilla and fruit
Dinner is usually what we are having.  Meat, a few veggies and a carb.

He still fights me with veggies sometimes.. His go to is carrots, avocado, potatoes and recently frozen peas. He will do mushrooms, broc and cauliflower sometimes. He likes the costco sweet potato fries so we will be doing that more often. I need to try hiding in shakes again. He loves his fruit though so he gets an array of that every day... Grapes, strawberries, raspberries, pears, watermelon

Firsts:
First steps (May 1)
May 6 top right beside front teeth
May 8 top left beside front teeth
May 20 bottom right (8 teeth now!!!)

Events in the past month:

It has definitely been different working again but I'm liking how it breaks up the week and it makes time go by so fast. I find I appreciate the time I have with Dax even more and do a lot more. I think it helps that it has been such nice weather. We go to the park almost every day. It has also been great for Neil as he has had to do a lot more with Dax and I see them having a closer relationship. He has always loved his dad but they now have more of their own thing going on :) I  definitely looking forward to Neil being off this summer!!

I messed up my back again and was in pretty rough shape for about a week. Thank goodness my mom helped out as I could barely pick up Dax :( I need to get back to working out!!

Mother's Day the boys sent me to the spa which was so relaxing! Had such a great day :) the boys went on the boat over to dingy dock. Sounds like they had a great time!

Lots of park and beach days. Dax loves exploring and it poops him out for his nap!

Neil went down to Seattle for a friends stag and of course I had to work all that weekend (boo!). Luckily mom dad and sis hung out with Dax. Of course he got a flu that weekend too (puked right before Neil left).. And we all seemed to pick it up the next week. Blah!

Daxton is 1 year old!!

Baby stats

I can't believe Dax is one year old!! Wow! It has been an amazing year... It is definitely had it's tough moments but I must say Dax is an amazing baby! But now he is a toddler.. Not our little baby anymore. I look at pictures of him and can't believe how far he has come. I love his personality so much. He is outgoing but very chill at the same time. People constantly comment on how happy and sweet he is.

Sleep: sleeping 730-8pm until 7-8am

Feed: 4 nursing and 3 full meals with snacks

Daily Routine:
Wake up 7-8, nurse, have breakfast and play with toys. If nice out we will go for a walk or do errands. Nap around 11-1130.. And he has been taking one long nap more and more. I think if first nap is pushed back he is more likely to sleep for 3hours. If he wakes up after 2 then one nap is enough.
After nap nurse, lunch and play until dad gets home. Dinner, play with dad, bath, nurse, book and bed :)

Weight: 21lb
Length: 31in
Head: 18in
Diaper size: size 4
Clothing size: 12-18m gap clothes 12m Carter's etc outfits and 12-18m sleepers.
Hair color: light brown coming in
Eye Color: greeny hazel

Baby favs:
Playing with his dad
Playing with cars
Climbing the stairs
Pulling stuff out of cupboards

Baby not so favs:
Diaper changes when he wakes up
Taking away keys (he has just started getting upset when you take something away that he really wants)

Challenges:
He is so quick and is always looking for trouble. We finally set up the play yard to section off the living room. We should have done it long ago as it is so helpful for him to stay out of trouble. He gets pissed sometimes when he's stuck in there and I'm doing something. But at least he is safe in there!
He has had a short fuse when it comes to food lately so he yells if I don't give it to him quick enough. Trying to teach him to be patient.

Funniest moment: threw my keys in the toilet. Thank goodness by faab still works!!

Milestones:
He has started walking!! I really didn't think he would walk before his birthday as he seems pretty content crawling everywhere. But he did it!! One day he was trying to shuffle his feet and the next he took his first steps :) I seriously cried! Haha I was so proud of him. I squeal when he does it and he looks so proud of himself. He still crawls most of the time but if he is standing up he will try to walk in that direction. He is motivated my food and toys of course haha.

Foods:
Routine of food is cereal and yogurt, eggs and toast or pancakes/waffles for breakfast
Lunch is usually toast yogurt and fruit or cheese quesadilla and fruit
Dinner is usually what we are having.  Meat, a few veggies and a carb.

Any fruit

Firsts:
First steps (May 1)

Events in the past month:
There has been lots of birthdays in the past month so lots of visiting! Also the weather has been a lot milder so lots of walks and trips to the park which we are all loving!

Second weekend of April we went to Vancouver for the trade show and stayed in a hotel for two nights. Dax did really well. It helped that we got a jr suite so had a separate room for Dax to sleep in. He had a great time though!

Dax's first Easter was great. We did a mini Easter egg hunt and he totally noticed his new little toys and eggs filled with gold fish crackers and mushies. It was so cute!!

Easter Monday we did Dax's cake smash!! It was soo much fun! I loved all the props Lisa used and his cake turned out super cute. Dax loved the cake.. I mean LOVED! He demolished it!! Lol we thought he might get sick but he totally did alright.  Passed out in the car on the way home lol.

I am now back to work part time so one day a week Neil's mom watches Dax and thurs, fri night and Sunday Neil is with Dax. So far I am really liking it. I thought having a broken up schedule would make for a long week but it seems to go by super fast!!

Neil's birthday was pretty low key. I worked on his actual birthday but the following night we went out with some friends and nana hung out with Dax. On the Sunday after work we went on Neil's parents boat for a crab feast. Dax loved crawling around the boat and was a little scared of the crab.. But eventually wanted some and seemed to like it!

Dax's birthday was a huge success! We ended up going with a nautical theme (surprise surprise with my obsessed with anchors and stripes haha). I put up all his monthly photos and had nautical decorations. We had about 25 ppl over and had snacks and cake. Dax had a great time and was so spoiled!!

Saturday 5 April 2014

Daxton is 11 months old!

Baby stats
Sleep:  Dax was sleeping fine until we went to Maui. First night he slept on me most of the night.. We had a few normal nights after that and then he woke up with a fever and a cold. Then he started waking up a lot and would cry really hard when we put him down :( He just got another tooth so I think that has contributed to this continuing. Also probably a sleep regression. Yay! We have started putting him to bed later which seems to help some as well as being flexible with naps (some days he only has one long nap). I'm hoping this will work itself out.

Feed: eats three good size meals a day and nurses when he wakes up, around naps and before bed. He is starting to nurse less I have noticed. Also a few times I have been away people have offered him a bottle and he doesn't want it.

Daily Routine: up between 7-8, breakfast and play. Nap around 11 and has been sleeping 2-3hrs. If he sleeps until 2pm he then only has one nap as 5 is too late for second nap. Late lunch and he looks for trouble until dad is home at 5. Dinner, play, bath, pjs, book, nurse and bed. He is fighting bed though and seems wide awake... Even if it's 8pm which is an hour later than normal.

Head: 18in
Diaper size: size 4

Baby not so favs:
Going to bed :( lately he is really fighting it. Tried one nap instead of two but still cries hard. He is teething though so that doesn't help.
Diaper changes/getting changed sometimes
Hitting his head (tries to crawl under things and doesn't realize how big he is)

Challenges:
Trying to teach him no (that has been a slow process)
Bed time
He has been pretty whiny this month which is probably from teething.. But it gets old fast lol
Won't leave Jose alone. Try to redirect him

Funniest moment:
Speed crawling any time Jose is around or when dish washer is open

Milestones:
He is cruising around everything now
He is confident walking behind his walker and when you hold his hands
He just started standing without holding on to anything.. But once he realizes it he sits down

Foods:
He is still a bit picky at times but when he likes things he will gobble them up. He is eating more and more of what we eat for dinner which makes things easier.

Papaya
Quinoa
Steak (yum)
Broccoli (now likes it)
Goldfish (handy when we were out in Maui)

Fav foods:
Yogurt snacks (he gets a few at the end of his meal and he gets so excited)

Events in the past month:

The weather is starting to get nicer so more walks and trips to the park. Dax loves the swings and going down the slide with his dad.

Maui was a blast!! I was pretty nervous how he'd do on the plane but he did really well. We had lots of fun in the pool and checking out beaches. He had fun playing with his baby buddies. He did get a baby cold when we were there though :( I felt so bad. Luckily his ears didn't bug him much on the way down.

Dax has had a tough time sleeping the last few weeks. He has a bunch of teeth coming in. Baby Tylenol has helped though. He is a trooper during the day!
I can't believe he will be one soon.. Time to plan his party!! :)
