Aria is one month old!

Baby stats

Sleep: Aria wakes up every 2-3hrs still morning and night. Neil watches her 8-11/12 and from there she wakes up around 3am and 5/6 for feeds. If it wasn't for that early nap id be pretty tired. I don't nap well during the day and by 5pm I'm tapped out.

Feed: she has been cluster feeding more in later afternoon/evening but usually every 2ish hours. She lets me know otherwise 😁

Daily Routine: no set routine yet as it depends on the day if the week. My favourite are days it's just her and I so we can lounge. Play dress up. Have naps. Lol she likes to sleep on me or on the fuzzy blanket on the couch during the day.

Weight: 8lb 9oz (as of 26days old)

Length: 21in

Diaper size: newborn

Clothing size: newborn but they are getting shorter. A few she has grown out of already.  I remember when she first came home they were swimming on her. I am looking forward to her 0-3m wardrobe hehe.

Hair Color: medium brown (seems to be a bit lighter than when she was born)

Eye Color: looks like they will be dark brown

Baby favs: play mat, music/nursery rhymes, her brother, looking around

Baby not so favs: baths, wiping her face, being hangry, soother falling out, left boob lol, car seat when car stops moving

Challenges: left boob has a quick let down and she hates it lol.. Boob vs Aria Aria 0-1
- days with both her and Dax. Trying to make Dax a priority but I find I get short tempered with him. Glad he has daycare a few days a week with his buddies.

Funniest moment: blow out! Lol huuuge blow out when I was wearing her in the wrap one morning cooking breakfast. Splattered on the floor haha. So gross!

Milestones:
- takes a bottle

Firsts:
- first road trip
- she's starting to smile other than when she's sleeping. Just here and there but so cute!

Events in the past month:
- road trip to Vic for photos
- my birthday
- Easter with the family

Looking forward to:
- summer!! Sunny weather every day ☀️☀️

Aria is 4 weeks old!!

I can't believe she is 4 weeks already! It has been a long four weeks in some ways, trying to balance her and her brother. But I'm still surprised how fast it has gone by. She is such a sweet little lady.
"Who's that lady? She is the cutest little baby! And we love her like crazy, she is as cute as can be" that's her little song Dax and I sing.

We have been adjusting to being at home (Dax, her and I). It is definitely a more relaxing day when I just have Aria but Dax can be helpful (when he wants to be). I try to do my running around and appts on days I have just Aria. But we did have daxs preschool meeting on a day I had both littles and we managed ok!

We've had some play dates (for Dax and myself) and walked to the park. The weather has been nice and pretty warm lately so it is nice to get out and enjoy. Aria was weighed in two days ago and weighed in at 8lbs 9 oz! Which was amazing because week 3 she was only 7-7. I think with her being over her cold she is making up for lost time. So I'm hoping she will sleep longer soon as well 😉 would love more than three hours in a row! Haha she is more awake now for periods during the day so I know it's coming. And love when we get to smiles!! I know more of those are coming too.. But not wishing away time as she is already growing so fast. Will do an official up date at her one month 😊

Aria is two weeks old!

I can't believe she is two weeks old already!! It has gone by quickly but slow at some points. She has a poor baby cold still which is so heart breaking. Luckily she is on the mend!

This week we have gotten out a little bit more. Mom is feeling much better but I want little A to get better so have been keeping her in mostly. We did make the trip to Vic for newborn photos. We were there 6 hours but it was so worth it! Will share once we get our copies.

Last midwife appt Aria only gained 1.2oz but we figure it is because she has been so congested making it hard to eat. She is at 7lb 1.2oz though so still up. We have had a few visitors including cousins and friends.

Her George newborn sleepers are too short now. So she must be growing ☺️ I seriously can't wait for her to fit all the cute clothes I have gotten her!! I went on another little spree at the gap when they had their gap cash + sale 🙈

Like little twinsies ❤️

Loves her tummy time mat

Aria is one week old!

I can't believe she is a week old already. Wow home time flies when you aren't sleeping lol. It has definitely been a HUGE adjustment but she is so sweet and cute. We just love her to pieces.
She is so tiny her newborn clothes are big on her. She coos a lot but rarely cries. If she does she lets you know though 😉
She sleeps a ton compared to Dax. Falls asleep on the boob a lot.. It's only been last few days she has been awake a bit more during the day. Her witching hours are 10-2am though and it has definitely been exhausting. I ended up getting mastitis on one side and of course this is when she just started cluster feeding in the night. My poor boob 😝 I'm hoping my nipples will be healed up soon.
Dax just loves her and tries to be so helpful. He has been adjusting to not having all of our attention though.. That has been a bit rough. I want to do it all for him but I know I can't and that he's a big boy now and will be just fine. I am a little afraid of what it will be like to have the two of them home with just me 😬.

She is now up to 7lbs (yay!). She has long skinny legs and long fingers and toes (like me) We have newborn photos coming up this week so I can't wait to see how they turn out!!

2 days old

She has my little long fingers ❤️

Take our picture mom! I'm holding Arias hand 😍

Aria Diane Holmes has arrived!

Our little lady decided to come 9 days early on Friday March 11 at 2:52am. Here is her birth story:
On Thursday my back and hips were sore making it hard to get moving. I went for tea with a fellow preg mama due March 14th, did a few errands and then dropped by work to do some computer work. I got home just after 4pm. Tired and sore and I remember thinking man another 10 days of this is going to be tough. I had gone in for a midwife appt the day before and she had checked and I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced and soft. I was surprised because up until that point I hadn't felt much of anything. I did notice some minor cramping and back pain after this though.
After dinner I just laid down on the couch as my back was still bugging me. I noticed around 830/845 I felt some Braxton hicks or contractions. I told my mom but they were sporadic at this point. Neil put Dax to bed and I went upstairs to try to relax and watch tv. I noticed the contractions stronger and started in my back and then tightened in my stomach but were still 8-9mins and then sometimes 14 mins apart. I remember thinking if this is going to happen please happen!! And finally packed my bag! Lol
I told Neil to put the car seat in the truck just in case. Around 11 I got into bed decided to try to sleep. Contractions were mild but started getting closer to 4-5mins apart. After almost an hour of this I called the midwife to let her know as they were more consistent and lasting close to a minute. She advised us to meet her at the hospital in an hour. My mom came over and Neil's dad came to get Dax and we headed to the hospital. By this point my back was starting to hurt quite a bit.

The midwife checked me at the hospital around 12:45 and I was only 3cm dilated so she said this was still early labour. But there was a bit of blood and the prenatal ward wasn't busy so they said I could stay (yay! I so didn't want them to send me home). I got a room and dimmed the lights and tried to breathe through the contractions. My back pain was getting pretty intense.. Shooting down my butt into my legs. I told MW I was going to need something for the pain thinking this labour was just getting started. She suggested we try sub hypodermic water injections into my back. These are suppose to dull back pain for a few hours but hurt like an sob going in. I told her I wanted to try it. They injected me with four which didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought and it did seem to help.. At first. As soon as I tried to change positions though the back pain came back fast and furious. We decided to give the tub a try since I liked the tub last time. I got in and only had a few contractions before the back pain started to become unbearable. I didn't know how long I could go on like that. I also felt a bit of an urge to push. So she said she would check to see how dilated I was. Miraculously I was already 9cm!!! So from being admitted at 12:45 to approx 2:45am ish I had pretty much fully dilated.
They pulled me out of the tub quickly and I felt I needed to push again and this time much stronger. I was barely able to waddle back over to the bed. Before j knew it I was on my back and she was starting to crown. 3mins of pushing (and they were telling me to slow it down) she was out and on my chest. Best feeling ever!!! They watched for bleeding (which at this point they were giving me an IV of oxytocin to tighten me up) and luckily I just had a normal amount! I also didn't tear this time! She did a minor stitch on the outside of the perineum but she said there wasn't blood or anything just stretched a bit. Aria lay on me for the next few hours and totally found the boob herself and latched on. They finally weighed and measured her and she was 6lbs 12.6oz and 20in long. I am so thankful the day went so well. What a different experience from daxs delivery.
