Aria is two weeks old!

I can't believe she is two weeks old already!! It has gone by quickly but slow at some points. She has a poor baby cold still which is so heart breaking. Luckily she is on the mend!

This week we have gotten out a little bit more. Mom is feeling much better but I want little A to get better so have been keeping her in mostly. We did make the trip to Vic for newborn photos. We were there 6 hours but it was so worth it! Will share once we get our copies.

Last midwife appt Aria only gained 1.2oz but we figure it is because she has been so congested making it hard to eat. She is at 7lb 1.2oz though so still up. We have had a few visitors including cousins and friends.

Her George newborn sleepers are too short now. So she must be growing ☺️ I seriously can't wait for her to fit all the cute clothes I have gotten her!! I went on another little spree at the gap when they had their gap cash + sale 🙈

Like little twinsies ❤️

Aria is one week old!

I can't believe she is a week old already. Wow home time flies when you aren't sleeping lol. It has definitely been a HUGE adjustment but she is so sweet and cute. We just love her to pieces.
She is so tiny her newborn clothes are big on her. She coos a lot but rarely cries. If she does she lets you know though 😉
She sleeps a ton compared to Dax. Falls asleep on the boob a lot.. It's only been last few days she has been awake a bit more during the day. Her witching hours are 10-2am though and it has definitely been exhausting. I ended up getting mastitis on one side and of course this is when she just started cluster feeding in the night. My poor boob 😝 I'm hoping my nipples will be healed up soon.
Dax just loves her and tries to be so helpful. He has been adjusting to not having all of our attention though.. That has been a bit rough. I want to do it all for him but I know I can't and that he's a big boy now and will be just fine. I am a little afraid of what it will be like to have the two of them home with just me 😬.

She is now up to 7lbs (yay!). She has long skinny legs and long fingers and toes (like me) We have newborn photos coming up this week so I can't wait to see how they turn out!!

Aria Diane Holmes has arrived!

Our little lady decided to come 9 days early on Friday March 11 at 2:52am. Here is her birth story:
On Thursday my back and hips were sore making it hard to get moving. I went for tea with a fellow preg mama due March 14th, did a few errands and then dropped by work to do some computer work. I got home just after 4pm. Tired and sore and I remember thinking man another 10 days of this is going to be tough. I had gone in for a midwife appt the day before and she had checked and I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced and soft. I was surprised because up until that point I hadn't felt much of anything. I did notice some minor cramping and back pain after this though.
After dinner I just laid down on the couch as my back was still bugging me. I noticed around 830/845 I felt some Braxton hicks or contractions. I told my mom but they were sporadic at this point. Neil put Dax to bed and I went upstairs to try to relax and watch tv. I noticed the contractions stronger and started in my back and then tightened in my stomach but were still 8-9mins and then sometimes 14 mins apart. I remember thinking if this is going to happen please happen!! And finally packed my bag! Lol
I told Neil to put the car seat in the truck just in case. Around 11 I got into bed decided to try to sleep. Contractions were mild but started getting closer to 4-5mins apart. After almost an hour of this I called the midwife to let her know as they were more consistent and lasting close to a minute. She advised us to meet her at the hospital in an hour. My mom came over and Neil's dad came to get Dax and we headed to the hospital. By this point my back was starting to hurt quite a bit.

The midwife checked me at the hospital around 12:45 and I was only 3cm dilated so she said this was still early labour. But there was a bit of blood and the prenatal ward wasn't busy so they said I could stay (yay! I so didn't want them to send me home). I got a room and dimmed the lights and tried to breathe through the contractions. My back pain was getting pretty intense.. Shooting down my butt into my legs. I told MW I was going to need something for the pain thinking this labour was just getting started. She suggested we try sub hypodermic water injections into my back. These are suppose to dull back pain for a few hours but hurt like an sob going in. I told her I wanted to try it. They injected me with four which didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought and it did seem to help.. At first. As soon as I tried to change positions though the back pain came back fast and furious. We decided to give the tub a try since I liked the tub last time. I got in and only had a few contractions before the back pain started to become unbearable. I didn't know how long I could go on like that. I also felt a bit of an urge to push. So she said she would check to see how dilated I was. Miraculously I was already 9cm!!! So from being admitted at 12:45 to approx 2:45am ish I had pretty much fully dilated.
They pulled me out of the tub quickly and I felt I needed to push again and this time much stronger. I was barely able to waddle back over to the bed. Before j knew it I was on my back and she was starting to crown. 3mins of pushing (and they were telling me to slow it down) she was out and on my chest. Best feeling ever!!! They watched for bleeding (which at this point they were giving me an IV of oxytocin to tighten me up) and luckily I just had a normal amount! I also didn't tear this time! She did a minor stitch on the outside of the perineum but she said there wasn't blood or anything just stretched a bit. Aria lay on me for the next few hours and totally found the boob herself and latched on. They finally weighed and measured her and she was 6lbs 12.6oz and 20in long. I am so thankful the day went so well. What a different experience from daxs delivery.

Daxton is 13months!!

Baby stats

13 months!! Seriously can't believe it.

Sleep: sleeping 730-8pm until 7-8am and one long nap 12-2/3

Feed: 2-3 nursing (morning, after nap and bedtime) and 3 full meals with snacks

Daily Routine: it has been so nice outside that usually after breakfast we will walk to the park/walk the neighbourhood or go to the beach before nap. He loves it. Even just walking around the yard is exciting for him. I think with the fresh air and exercise he sleeps better.

Weight: 21lb 7oz
Length: 31.5lb
Head: 18in
Diaper size: size 4
Clothing size: 12-18m gap clothes 12m Carter's etc outfits and 12-18m sleepers.
Shoe size: finally got him sized and he's a 4.5 and one foot just shy of 5. So officially in size 5 with those chubby feet ;)

Challenges: he gets into everything. Whatever you are doing he wants to be part of. We really need child locks on all the cupboards but just section him off into his play yard area. We moved the gate to the top of the stairs finally and he shakes it like a mad man. Lol he sees us open it and tries to grab the latch but thank goodness isn't tall enough yet. I still worry he will somehow get it open so watch him very closely.

Nicknames: baby D (trying to stop since he's no longer a baby ;), stinkeroo, beeb, silly man/cute man

Funniest moment: threw my keys in the toilet. Thank goodness by faab still works!!

Milestones:
It is amazing how much they can change in a month. He walks most of the time now. He is slow on uneven surfaces (park, sand, grass) but is getting better each day. He love love LOVES other kids.. Especially older ones. It is too cute. He wants to play with them and will watch them at the park and want to be near them. Haha he even will try to talk to them.
He is also a crazy climber ... Climbs in ottoman and sofa and has learned  how to slide back down (stinkeroo) ...we are hoping he won't figure out how to climb out of his crib any time soon.
He is learning how to play hockey w his little hockey stick and dunk on his basketball hoop.
He seems to understand us more and more. He loves when I sing nursery rhymes.. Especially itsy bitsy spider (probably because I tickle him lol) and wheels on the bus. can't wait until he can talk to us :) he will hand you a book and want you to read it (favs right now are oink moo meow, sniff elephant book and Dr Seuss) or a toy if he wants you to play. He also uses cellphones as phones and talks (ring a ling thanks for calling).

Foods:
Routine of food is cereal and yogurt, eggs and toast or pancakes/waffles for breakfast w fruit
Lunch is usually toast yogurt and fruit or cheese quesadilla and fruit
Dinner is usually what we are having.  Meat, a few veggies and a carb.

He still fights me with veggies sometimes.. His go to is carrots, avocado, potatoes and recently frozen peas. He will do mushrooms, broc and cauliflower sometimes. He likes the costco sweet potato fries so we will be doing that more often. I need to try hiding in shakes again. He loves his fruit though so he gets an array of that every day... Grapes, strawberries, raspberries, pears, watermelon

Firsts:
First steps (May 1)
May 6 top right beside front teeth
May 8 top left beside front teeth
May 20 bottom right (8 teeth now!!!)

Events in the past month:

It has definitely been different working again but I'm liking how it breaks up the week and it makes time go by so fast. I find I appreciate the time I have with Dax even more and do a lot more. I think it helps that it has been such nice weather. We go to the park almost every day. It has also been great for Neil as he has had to do a lot more with Dax and I see them having a closer relationship. He has always loved his dad but they now have more of their own thing going on :) I  definitely looking forward to Neil being off this summer!!

I messed up my back again and was in pretty rough shape for about a week. Thank goodness my mom helped out as I could barely pick up Dax :( I need to get back to working out!!

Mother's Day the boys sent me to the spa which was so relaxing! Had such a great day :) the boys went on the boat over to dingy dock. Sounds like they had a great time!

Lots of park and beach days. Dax loves exploring and it poops him out for his nap!

Neil went down to Seattle for a friends stag and of course I had to work all that weekend (boo!). Luckily mom dad and sis hung out with Dax. Of course he got a flu that weekend too (puked right before Neil left).. And we all seemed to pick it up the next week. Blah!
